a. CIWM. This personal safety feature allows a Member or Neighbour to set a time to be contacted by
SecurUs. Once SecurUs has sent the check in prompt:
i. The Member or Neighbour can advise that they are safe, and the CIWM is closed;
ii. The Member of Neighbour can respond that they are not safe, and SecurUs will notify their two
prioritized Trusted Emergency Contacts via the App, text message, and email; or
iii. The Member or Neighbour may fail to respond. After 10 minutes, SecurUs will send a second
check-in prompt asking them to respond within 5 minutes. If there is no response, SecurUs will
notify their two prioritized Trusted Emergency Contacts via the app, text message, and email.
b. Safety Alert. This personal safety feature enables a user to tell SecurUs to send an alert to their
two prioritized Trusted Emergency Contacts immediately.
c. Location. With both CIWM and Safety Alert personal safety features, SecurUs will provide any
notified Trusted Emergency Contacts who is a Member or Neighbour with your last known location.
A Trusted Emergency Contact may at their own discretion contact law enforcement.
d. Requirements. The features will not work where the user has not established connectivity or there is
no connectivity or any sort of disruption to WI-FI, cellular or satellite. The features may be
unavailable for any number of reasons, including:
i. Congestion, disruption, outage, busy cells or other system, computer, telecommunications, or
network failures (WI-FI, cellular or satellite) between your mobile device and our facilities;
ii. Capacity limitations, equipment problems or maintenance, public utility failure;
iii. Faults in or incorrect settings on your mobile device;
iv. Problems with connectivity or operation, including issues with clarity, audio recognition,
or geolocation;
v. Atmospheric or topographical conditions;
vi. Unavailability of the Services;
vii. Unavailability of any Trusted Emergency Contact, their failure to respond or to respond in a
timely manner;
viii. Your line is disabled, interrupted, or delayed;
ix. Acts of war, terrorism, civil disturbances, government actions, cyber attacks, or
x. For any other reason, whether within or beyond our control.
a. Your Account. SecurUs offers access to third party merchants of safety and security products and
services. You will need to be a Member or Neighbour to access the SecurUs Safety Marketplace.
b. SecurUs Safety Marketplace Transactions. SecurUs is not the seller of the products and services in
the SecurUs Safety Marketplace. It provides a platform through which users can connect and
transact directly with third party merchants. SECURUS MAKES NO WARRANTY THAT ANY PRODUCT
OR SERVICE PROVIDED BY THIRD PARTIES WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, ARE OF A CERTAIN
QUALITY, ARE MERCHANTABLE, SUITABLE, FIT FOR PURPOSE OR EFFECTIVE, OR WILL BE AVAILABLE
ON AN UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE BASIS.
c. Issues. All purchases, concerns, complaints, inquiries, returns, refunds and claims are between the
user and the third party merchant and subject to the merchant’s terms and conditions.
d. Descriptions. SecurUs does not warrant that product or service descriptions, or other content of the
SecurUs Safety Marketplace is accurate, complete, reliable, current, or error-free.
a. Calculation. Each Neighbourhood generates revenue through SecurUs Premium subscriptions,
Remote Neighbourhood subscriptions and purchases of products or services through the SecurUs
Safety Marketplace (the “Funds”). SecurUs tracks this revenue (net of any returns, refunds,
cancellations, or other adjustments) and each neighbourhood will be eligible to receive 2% of the
gross revenue into its neighbourhood incentive account annually on January 31st. The adjusted
funds will be calculated as of December 31st of each calendar year (fund calculation date) and be
available for use beginning on January 31st of the following year (funds availability date).
b. Use of the Funds. The Funds are intended to support neighbourhood engagement and safety
activities, which can include:
i. Hosting block parties or neighbourhood events such as town halls, lectures, or seminars;
ii.Contributing to local charities; and
iii. Purchasing products and services from the SecurUs Safety Marketplace for the benefit of the
entire neighbourhood.
The Funds may NOT be used for:
i. Contributions of a political, religious, or ethnic nature; or
ii. Activities or purchases that benefit a limited number of Neighbours.
c. Determining Fund Use. Your NSA will determine, acting in good faith, the use of the Funds with the
demonstrated support of at least 25% of Neighbours.
d. Mandatory Post-Use Reporting. The NSA must provide SecurUs with proof of use of funds within 30
days by submitting to support@mySecurUs.ca their invoices, event flyers and photos of events
held. SecurUs may share event details to promote best practices. Failure to provide supporting
documents within the time frame may result in the removal of the NSA from the Services.
e. Expiration of Funds. Funds will be released to SecurUs to support general operations, promotions,
and enhancements under the following circumstances:
i. Funds are not used within 23 months of the funds availability date; or
ii. The Neighbourhood no longer has any Members or Neighbours, an NSA, or otherwise no longer
exists, including termination based on a violation of the Terms.
a. SecurUs Paid Plans. As part of our ongoing mission to deliver value and relevant safety and
community engagement solutions, SecurUs provides incremental benefits through our two paid
SecurUs plans (the “Paid Plans”): (i) SecurUs Premium which provides ongoing and promotional
exclusive offers, free benefits, and unlimited use of CIWM and Safety Alert personal safety features,
and (ii) Remote Neighbourhood Access. NSAs are entitled to a complimentary new Securus
Premium Plan while in role (note existing paid plans cannot be converted mid-subscription).
b. Automatic Renewal. The Paid Plans subscription fee will be charged annually in advance on your
subscription anniversary date. After your initial subscription period, and again after any subsequent
subscription period, your subscription will automatically renew on the first day after the end of the
subscription period and continue for 365 days, at SecurUs’ then-current Paid Plan subscription fee.
You agree that your account will renew automatically unless you cancel your subscription at least
24 hours before the end of the subscription period. If you cancel your subscription, you
may continue to access and use SecurUs Premium or Remote Neighbourhood until the end of your
then-current subscription period. You can cancel your subscription in the App at any time; however,
you will not be eligible for any refund of any portion of the subscription fee.
c. Payment. No contract will exist between you and Securus for a Paid Plan until we confirm your
order. By subscribing to a Paid Plan, you authorize us and our payment processor to charge
your payment provider for the initial and all subsequent subscriptions. Upon renewal, if SecurUs or
its payment processor does not receive payment from your payment provider, (i) you agree to pay
all amounts due on your account for the full subscription period upon demand; and/or (ii) you
agree that SecurUs may suspend your subscription and continue to attempt to charge your
payment provider until payment is received.
d. Payment Method. You must provide or have provided SecurUs or its payment processor a valid
credit card as a condition to receiving a Paid Plan. Your payment provider agreement governs your
use of the designated credit card, and you must refer to that agreement for your rights and
liabilities with respect to your use of your card. You agree that SecurUs or its payment processor is
authorized to immediately invoice your account for all fees and charges due and payable to
SecurUs and that no additional notice or consent is required. SecurUs reserves the right at any
time to change its prices and billing methods, either immediately upon posting on the Website or
the App, as communicated via the Services, or by emailing you.
a. User Indemnifies SecurUs. In addition to the disclaimers of and limitations on liability, and the
indemnities set out elsewhere in this Agreement, and without detracting from any of them, you
agree to defend, indemnify, and hold SecurUs and our officers, directors, employees, agents,
representatives, partners, and licensors harmless from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and
expenses, including and without limitation reasonable attorney’s fees and costs, made by any third
party due to or arising out of any and all of: (i) your use of the Services; (ii) your violation of the
Terms; (iii) your violation of applicable laws or regulations; (iv) your violation of any rights of
another party, including any users; (v) your interactions and transactions with other users or (vi)
your Content. We reserve the right, at your expense, to assume the exclusive defense and control of
any matter for which you are required to indemnify us, and you agree to cooperate with our defense
of these claims, and to not settle any claim without our prior written consent. You agree that the
provisions of this section will survive any termination of your account(s), the Terms, and/or your
access to the Services.
You understand and agree that to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, your access to and use of the Services are at your own risk.

and other content to educate our Members and Neighbours on ways to protect themselves from
risk. Any such content provided by SecurUs is general advice and not specific to you or your
property. We do not guarantee the applicability or effectiveness of any safety tip or
recommendation, and no advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained from SecurUs
through the Services will create any warranty.
d. Liability Limits. THIS SECTION SIGNIFICANTLY LIMITS OUR LIABILITY TO YOU AND TO THIRD
PARTIES. YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY (AND
WHERE NOT PROHIBITED BY) LAW, SECURUS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT,
INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS,
REVENUES, OR PROPERTY, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OR

YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE THE SERVICES; (II) YOUR CONDUCT
OR CONTENT, OR THAT OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON THE SERVICES; (III) ANY CONTENT OBTAINED FROM
THE SERVICES; OR (IV) UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, USE, OR ALTERATION OF YOUR ACCOUNT,
TRANSMISSIONS OR CONTENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF SECURUS
EXCEED YOUR ANNUAL SECURUS PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION FEE. THE LIMITATIONS OF THIS
SUBSECTION SHALL APPLY TO ANY BASIS OF LIABILITY, INCLUDING WARRANTY, CONTRACT,
STATUTE, STRICT LIABILITY OR TORT OR OTHER LEGAL OR EQUITABLE BASIS, AND WHETHER OR
NOT THE PARTIES HAVE BEEN INFORMED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE.
a. Notifications. You will receive notifications from SecurUs about relevant news and incidents within
the Services, or to the email address or mobile phone number linked to your account. Your carrier
may charge you for such messages. By giving SecurUs your phone number, you are consenting to
receiving such text notifications, even if your mobile phone number is registered on Canada’s Do
Not Call list. If you no longer wish to receive SecurUs text notifications, you may reply with STOP to
any text message. Text notifications may not be delivered for any of the reasons listed in Section
2(d). You acknowledge that notifications may not be timely received, and that SecurUs does not
guarantee that notifications will be delivered.
b. Term and Termination. The Terms commence when you download or install the App and will
continue until terminated by you or us. You may terminate the Terms any time by deactivating your
account(s) and discontinuing use of the Services. In addition to the specific bases set out herein
upon which we may suspend your account(s) at any time, and without detracting from them, we
may take these measures for any or no reason, with or without notice, without liability to you.
Termination by us will not limit any of our legal or equitable rights or remedies. Please note that
upon termination by you or us for any reason, refunds are not available for SecurUs Premium
subscription fees that have been paid in advance for the current year.
c. Assignment. We may assign all or any portion of the Terms.
d. Force Majeure. Our obligations under the Terms are waived automatically and without notice, and
you release us from all claims upon and during the occurrence of equipment failure, riots, strikes,
lockouts, terrorism, war (declared or undeclared), weather, natural phenomenon, acts of God,
governmental orders, rules or regulations, transportation, environmental conditions or any other
reason beyond our control that impacts the delivery of the Services.
e. Survival. In the event of termination, whether by you or by us, Sections 1, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 9 of the
Terms shall survive, as well as any other provisions that by their nature should survive.

the Services and supersede any other agreements or understandings (oral or written).
i. Updates. From time to time, we may amend the Terms. We will notify you of any material changes as
legally required. They will be effective upon posting notice of such changes on the Website and/or
within the App. If you do not agree to the changes, you should stop using the Services. Otherwise,
your continued use of the Services constitutes your acceptance and acknowledgement of
such changes.
j. Severability. If any provision of the Terms is found to be unenforceable, then that provision
will be severed as minimally as possible and not affect the validity and enforceability of any
remaining provisions.
k. No Third Party Beneficiaries. This Agreement is intended solely for the benefit of you and SecurUs,
and is not intended to confer any benefits upon, or create any rights in favour of, any other person.
l. No Waiver. Our failure to act in a particular circumstance does not waive our right to act with respect
to that or other circumstances.
m. Dispute Resolution. If a dispute arises between you and SecurUs, our goal is to provide you with a
fair and cost-effective way to resolve the dispute quickly. Accordingly, you agree to contact us, on
an individual basis, at support@mySecurUs.ca, by sending a notice (“Dispute Notice”) containing (i)
your name, phone number, and mailing address, (ii) account username, if any, as well as the
associated email address, (iii) a statement of any legal claims you are asserting and the factual basis
of those claims, and (iv) a description of any remedy sought, in order to try to resolve the dispute
informally before pursuing other avenues, including arbitration. Likewise, if SecurUs has a dispute
with you, SecurUs will send a Dispute Notice to the email address associated with your SecurUs
account, if any, or, to any other contact information we have for you. If we cannot resolve the
dispute informally within 45 days of the Dispute Notice, we will settle it by binding
arbitration administered by the Canadian Arbitration Association except that we retain the right to
seek injunctive or other equitable relief to prevent or stop the actual or threatened infringement,
misappropriation, or violation of our intellectual property rights. The number of arbitrators shall be
one, and they may not consolidate more than one person’s claims, unless we otherwise agree in
writing. The place of arbitration shall be Toronto, Ontario. Judgment on the award rendered by the
arbitrator may be entered in any court having jurisdiction thereof.
n. Governing Law. This Agreement and the Terms are governed by the provincial laws of Ontario and
the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
There are too many socially damaging platforms out there causing panic, fear and distrust.
We want to do it differently. We want to help YOU build Neighbourhoods that are supportive, engaged and safer.
Whether as an individual Member or part of a Neighbourhood, SecurUs provides you a proactive, solutions based platform to keep you, your family, your property and your neighbourhoods safer and more connected.
Because at SecurUs Safety Starts With Community!
To form a Neighbourhood, one resident will be the Neighbourhood Ambassador (NSA). Your NSA will set the tone for Neighbourhood engagement and have access to additional moderation tools to help foster positive and supportive communications within your Neighborhood.
Respect for Each Other
SecurUs urges communities to connect, support each other and be more engaged. For this to happen, we need to foster civil discourse within and across our communities. Our aim is to foster positive, engaging and supportive discussions; an environment where neighbours look out for and support each other.
Focus on Solutions
While it is easy to state strong opinions, we urge our members to be constructive by focusing on solutions to issues or concerns. Remember, your neighbours may not share your opinions but they likely share your values – be civil and respectful as we are all in this together!
Discuss important topics in the right place and in a way that is civil, constructive and builds strong neighbourhoods
Not everything is appropriate to share with your entire Neighbourhood. An important element of SecurUs is that you can chat directly with a neighbour or set up dedicated group chats with like-minded neighbours.
If you see something ... say something
If you see any suspicious activity, criminal behaviour or safety risk – please report it to your local authorities before sharing with your Neighbourhood or the Neighbourhood where the issue occurred.
To make sure local authorities know what is happening in our communities, we will remind you to report an incident every time you post one. Not sure who to call? See our Safety Resources section> contacts.
1. Harmful activity
We do not tolerate behaviours and communications that intentionally cause offense or harm to ANYONE. The following types of behaviours have no place in the SecurUs Community and we reserve the right to suspend or remove your account privileges with no notice or explanation if any of the following occur:
When in doubt, take a minute before sending a message or post. If it is not constructive or helpful, don’t share it!
Remember, all of us who make up SecurUs play a key role in neighbourhood moderation by reporting content or neighbours who violate these Guidelines.
Any content or Users may be reported to your Neighbourhood Ambassador or the SecurUs team for moderation and/or action at support@mysecurus.ca.
Please refer to your User Agreement for more details
ADDITIONAL POLICY RESOURCES
The Neighbourhood Ambassador is a crucial role in ensuring your Neighbourhood is safer, more connected and actively focused on creating a positive and supportive environment.

SecurUs is firmly committed to the fight against Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) and the sharing of Child Sexual Abuse Materials (CSAM).
We prohibit our Members and Neighbours from using the Services to share, discuss, reference or solicit CSAM or CSAE, or in any way endanger, harm or threaten a child, including soliciting, promoting or engaging in inappropriate interactions; child grooming, sexualization of a minor, sextortion or trafficking. We train our NSAs to be on the alert for CSAE and CSAM, and to notify us immediately when they suspect or become aware of this.
SecurUs requires Members and Neighbours to notify us immediately if they suspect or become aware of CSAM or CSAE at support@mysecurus.ca.
When we become aware of CSAM or CSAE, we remove such material immediately, suspend the Member or Neighbour’s account, and report it to https://www.cybertip.ca/en/.
